Personally it makes me feel better if I know that someone else is going okay before I could even think to access myself. It was in the sixth grade when I was contemplating what I should be when I grow up when my mother suggested occupational therapy. My first reaction was: I had never heard of that profession before so then I did my research. After many hours on the computer it was made clear to me that this is going to be my career.
Therefore the many aspects of the job sparked an interest in me that cause me to choose occupational therapy to be my major. After my mother suggested occupational therapy and I did all my research I went into depth as to why it was the right choice for me. That became clear when one of my family members asked me, what is it about occupational therapy that stuck out for you?
The explanation that was given was that personally I do not want an average behind the desk repetitive job. To work to my fullest potential I need a job where I will never know what tomorrow will bring me, that always have a change of scenery, and one where I really get to know the people that I am working with to help them better their life. My response led to my full attention to my upcoming career of occupational therapy.
In the late years of high school the teachers and counselors really get on the students backs to start researching and applying to schools. Therefore I searched and searched for colleges that are the most compatible for my personally, social, and educational needs. I was determined to find the college that met my needs, located in an area I want to be, and is recognized for its fine education.
With struggling to find that perfect match I received an acceptance letter from a College to study to get a bachelors degree in exercise science and then study further to receive my masters degree in occupational therapy. Because of my persistence, my aspiration will come true. As a woman, I was always told that I was predisposed to being bad at math. This may be why I always tried harder at math because it did not want to be pigeon holed as just another woman who cannot count.
The better I became at math, the more organized I became. I later discovered that I had a very good attention span. Being good at math and having a good attention span are two big factors that make for a very good accountant. The other factor is organization, but I will get to that. It is hard to deny that a lot of accountants are boring people.
They do a job that a lot of people would find very boring, and it does rub off on a person. Another thing may also be that a lot of mildly autistic people take up accountancy because of its perfect boundaries, its structure and its repetitive organization.
Accountancy is one of the fields where there is a rule for everything, and where grey areas are ones that accountants create as oppose to what they are exposed to. This sort of job is one that appeals to mildly autistic people as they thrive on the structure and rules, and they are also very good at getting a job done from start to finish no matter how large. You should also take into account that a lot of people I have met are perceived as boring because they have hobbies and interests that speak to their highly organized mind and methods.
They are train spotters and philatelists, which may seem boring to some, but to people who like structure, concentration and organization then it is perfect.
Maybe I learned my organizational skills on my own, or maybe it was because the people around me were so unorganized when I was a child. If I did not remember to remind my mother to sign a consent form, then I did not go on the school trips.
The first focus is the history of career counseling as a field of study with the emphasis on when and why career counseling began (s as a study of how the shape of one’s head relates to vocational choice), who and what influenc.
